DEGIRO launched its online trading services in Amsterdam in 2013 and it now boasts 450,000 customers. Its founders were all former employees of Binck Bank and they gradually built up the company. DEGIRO has now expanded to 18 European countries with more than 200 employees who process transactions to the value of €50 billion/annum.
If you trade through DEGIRO, you will only pay fees on investments you execute. These fees consist of a fixed charge and an additional cost per trade or per share, as per the table below:

The base currency of your DEGIRO account is based on your country of residence. You can only have one base currency per account, which can be any of the following: GBP, EUR, CHF, DKK, SEK, NOK, CZK, PLN, HUF.
You can easily open a DEGIRO account online, using your email address. In the past, they’d introduced a waiting list for new customers but restrictions have now been lifted.
In order to register, you’ll need a copy of your passport or ID, as well as the bank account number that will feed into your investment account. Once you upload these, you’ll be asked to complete an “appropriateness” test, agree to terms and conditions and finally deposit money into your investment account.
